# How do I format a checkbox list field?

## Discover the steps to customize the appearance of a checkbox list field in the merchant application.

To format a checkbox list field in the application editor to change the appearance on the merchant application, follow these steps:

1. In the **Application Editor**, add, then select the checkbox list field to open the field editor on the right-hand side panel.
2. On the field editor, click the **Values** tab.
3. In the **Values** tab of the field editor, add the options in the list by clicking **+**, then adding a label and value to each option.
4. Once all options are created, select the number of columns which will reflect how the field's options are seen on the merchant application.

To add a label to these checkbox list field options, add the name of the field in the **Section Title**.
